Hi everyone, hope you all are doing well. Was wondering if anyone has some insight on being diagnosed with chronic bronchitis at 24. I had a chest x-ray and PFT. Chest x-ray was fine, and PFT shows no significant abnormalities nor asthma. I got sick in June with a viral infection, that just never went away. I have had a productive wet cough, and have coughed so hard I almost throw up. In July I was prescribed a week of prednisone & allergy meds. Cough & phlegm came back. In August I was given z-pack and 2 week prednisone. Resolved, but cough & phlegm came back. Sept 2 I was prescribed ciclesonide via metered dose inhaler two times a day am/pm. My cough and phlegm have went away, but I do feel myself clearing my throat throughout the day. Feeling worried and scared for how my life will plan out, but I put myself in this position. 5 year heavy marijuana smoker. I cut back smoking in July and took my last puff of smoke in August. I have been reading this disease is progressive and will continue to get worse. Wondering if anyone is in the same boat or has any advice. There is not much information on chronic bronchitis at 24.
