My husband (49) developed COPD after an lung injury in 08. He currently suffers from the following conditions in addition to his COPD:
Critical Illness Neuropathy (both legs though I think this is spreading)
Osteopenia
Proteinuria(CKD)-which causes edema throughout his body
Staph/Fungal infection on feet(resisting treatment
Aspirates
CHF
Pulmonary Hypertension
Necrosis of all four major joints
He has been hospitalized 3 times since June of this year twice with pneumonia which caused hypoxia. They told me the beginning of August he would die and he rallied. The bad days are currently outweighing the good and he doesn't want a lung transplant. He sleeps all day and falls asleep in his wheelchair and won't get up at night to go to bed. He also has continued to smoke through out all of this.
Has anyone or is anyone currently experiencing these conditions with a family member or friend? It's all very overwhelming and I have three children as well. Thanks!
