Am I a candidate? Right now I am under the care of the VA in Gainesville Florida. Yesterday I was given a lung function test and then met with my Pulmonary PA
the test before in January 2019 showed my FEV1 at 23%. Yesterday’s test showed 28.5%.
I worked at increasing the value but only in the last two months.
I was told I am in the severe phase although I do not use oxygen while resting, watching tv or walking gently around the house. I do use 3 lpm when exerting or exercising.
The PA did mention that an operation was out of the question. This upset me and I thought about buying some single malt Scotch and a few cartons of Marlboros.
I tried emailing her back to get a clear answer. I’m not sure if I understood her correctly.
I’m a 76 year old male. 137 lbs at 65” height. My spo2 after exertion is the worst. 79-87. Of course, it rises much higher after I rest two minutes.
At rest before exercise it’s 91-93.
After exercise with a short break it will read 94-97% Go figure. then it descends to my resting normal.
Anyone have experience with this or point me to the source that does.
Thanks. TM
