I'm now using more O2 than I did a year ago, typically 3lpm. When I crank up the POC to a setting of 3 or 4, the battery lasts less than 2 hours, while the tank set to 4 would last over 3 hours @20 breaths/min.
So I called my provider, asking for more tanks, but I already have a POC, and can't have both. To change systems requires a scrip from Pulmo.
I called their office this morning and had an argument w/his RT about the POC lpm capabilities. I made the statement that the max output of my POC was 1 lpm, while she contended that in fact it would deliver 5 lpm! And, she counters her argument with the fact that she's been doing this for years, and therefore knows better than me. I offered to send her a table showing POC capabilities, and she replied she didn't need it because she knows what she knows...and I'm wrong!
When I went to ER this summer because of an exasperation, I took the tank, knowing I could get more lpm from it than w/POC.
How do you pursade someone w/facts when their mind is already made up on their view of reality?
Coments.
