I think it's very strange that it's always "blamed" on latex. I didn't think anything, especially medical supplies, was made with latex any more? I've also figured out that this cannot be the reason, because I wear "rubber" kitchen gloves for hours on end, and do not have a problem with the itching and irritation associated with a latex allergy. I wear the old-school, cheap, nothing works or fits better, Playtex yellow ones, that have been around forever. I just read the box for the first time and not only are they made with latex, showing as first "ingredient" but also neoprene and nitrile. I thought neoprene and nitrile replaced latex? I also wear the thin, medical gloves, that I get from the doctors' office, whenever I go out, as an extra layer of protection during Coronageddon (what I call Covid). These are nitrile, powder less, with oat something in them for your hands.
So... I don't think it's latex. Which is so not helpful because then, what are the options? LOL Also, strangely, it's bothering the side of my face that I do not sleep on and under my chin onto my neck. You'd think the side I'm laying on would be worse...?
I'm calling the supply company, tomorrow, to ask them what's going on and what they may replace it with, or if that's just it, no other options. I've changed it out three (3) times already, thinking it was just bad tubing (still could be if all came out of the same box), but I think I'm only allotted a certain number per month, per Medicaid/Denali Care rules. I'm not sure about that, either. This is all new to me.
I do recall, a few years ago, when my grandfather was on oxygen, he had these strips on his face that the tube rested on, but I didn't ask what that was for, exactly, and sticking cushy strips onto your face seems counter intuitive to this problem, as well.
If anyone has any insight or an answer, please post! I don't have a rash yet, but the itching is driving me nuts and the rash cannot be far behind, now.
Thank you!
