I’ve shared my story before, so I will be brief. Diagnosed with persistent, non-allergic asthma about a year ago after a mysterious respiratory illness (pulmonologist suspects severe Covid, but we don’t know for sure). A year later I’m doing really well; LFT stats are outstanding, scans are clear, breathing is easy and I’m very physically active again. Yet mucus remains my evil nemesis … it’s always there! I am routinely clearing my throat or having to cough it up. Pulmonologist has suggested that this may be more of a “chronic cough syndrome”.
Question: Of the VERY many inhaled medications out there, are any known to be more effecting at reducing mucus? For example, I read in some studies that Tiroptropoum (found in Spiriva) has been shown to be better at curbing mucus production. I’ve tried Symbicort and Trelegy so far and haven’t noticed much mucus reduction. My pulmonologist is open to letting me try other meds and I’m trying to figure out what might be best (or if there is even a difference among any of them regarding mucus). Feedback is greatly appreciated.
