My husband’s primary care Dr. requested a CT scan to see the progression of his COPD. They called with the results and told my husband that he has severe emphysema and plaque in his arteries. He has a follow up appointment with the GP in November but after hearing these results, he called to get in asap. The nurse said that the message from his Dr. was “Tell him to quit smoking. Nothing I can do for him sooner than the November appointment will make any difference”. We feel like it’s imperative to get more information right away. Are we being overly concerned or panicked? Should we bypass the GP and get an appointment with a Pulmonologist? Thanks in advance for any advice
