hi, my mum has severe copd/emphysema
she uses oxygen - aims for levels to be between 88-90.
Since Christmas she has had many excabations and I have lost count on how many times she has been on prednisone and antibiotics. (It isn’t in her nature to take meds but she is at a loss)
Her respiratory ‘team’ have not been to seen her for god knows how long as they won’t come if she’s been on steroids. (Needs to be a certain amount of time after) but she never reaches the next threshold 😔
We’re at loss.
Is being on prednisone or another steroid forever, an option?
Is there anything else out there we could ask for/try?
I appreciate you’re not doctors etc but I feel experience can be more valuable sometimes. Doctors don’t seem to be helping much 😔
For perspective- The week before last - nearing the end of her course of prednisone. She drove, walked (short walk) to the bank without any oxygen aids. Today she can barely talk with the oxygen support.
Thank you for reading.
