Had an acute case of sepsis recently, end of last year. Sea urchins spine to the heel. Didn't realize what was going on. Felt unwell booked a Dr appointment on the Friday for Monday and started on Prednisone thinking it was asthma flare.
Thought I was dying on Saturday night and went to the hospital the next morning. Was told "asthma" flare go home and take rescue meds. Went in again on the Monday and they did chest x-ray and told me to go home. The next day my foot was throbbing and still having breathing issues. X-ray foot found a sea urchin spine.
Anyways 4 weeks of screwing around and incompetence before I was sent for surgery at a major hospital (remote living). Anyway my lungs are not great. My pulse oximeter used to sit at 98% pre sepsis. Now it can be as low as 93-94%.
My question is has anyone else experienced this? Does it ever improve? I'd be happy if it was between 96-98% but seeing low 90s has me freaked out. Most days I'm tired. I don't have the energy I did just a few months ago. I feel vaguely sick all the time and short of breath. Ex smoker quit 2 years ago and had great lung function until COVID and sepsis.
Kind of feel this is it. My pulmonary specialist wants to start me on a biological in 6 months for my asthma. I think there is small airway damage from the infection and I'm never going back to wear I was.
