“Scarring”

Thanks to all who are entertaining my questions. I figure it’s good to ask anyway for other people to search.

So- when people say “scarring”. I feel like that term is used in so many kinds of lung diseases. But these lung diseases like fibrosis and bronchiectasis- for example- are so different. One produces heavy sputum and one is restriction.

Id love to know why “scarring” produces such vastly different symptoms.

And still, it is so odd, to me why COPD can’t be seen on a hr ct scan besides the emphysema. When people with chronic bronchitis have virtually similar symptoms of someone with bronchiectasis.
