I recently took my first PFT test and I was not at all prepared for how uncomfortable it would be. Thats my fault for not researching more, but this is all still new to me. On the first exhalation, I forced out all of the air as quickly as possible, but when she kept telling me to blow, blow, blow for several more seconds, my lungs were not feeling good. After that first exhalation, I started to hold back some air to make the air last through the blow, blow, blow period. Now I'm wondering how much this may have impacted my results. Or maybe the fact that my lungs felt so uncomfortable during the test is indicative of the condition they are in? My FEV1 was 44, FVC 78 and FEV1/FVC 56. Is it worth it to retake the test? Is it normal for your lungs to hurt during the test? My lungs were sore for days afterward and I dont normally have any symptoms.
