What is the approximate accuracy of a home spirometer in comparison to a spirometer at a pulmonology office, administered by a respiratory tech? A few weeks ago I purchased a MIR Smart One home spirometer and I don’t know what to make of the results. My home results are consistently about 5% lower than my clinic spirometry tests have been, and on a few days, 10% lower. Only on one day has my FEV1 actually exceeded the clinic tests.

When I use albuterol, it reverses the decline after a few minutes and my FEV1 shoots back up. What has everyone else’s experience been with these home spirometer machines?
