One year ago, I passed a PFT, heart scan, treadmill test. My O2 sat rate is usually around 95. I check it fairly reg because I was on nighttime O2 for a year. My O2 would drop into the low to mid 80s when sleeping. Dx by pulmonologist. Then I changed pulonologist and was told I didn't need the 02 and never did! Oh, my family doc said I possibly had very small amount copd a few years ago, but both pulmonologists said no. Anyway, today I got a chest x ray for suspected pneumonia and was dx with sm pneumonia infiltrates AND COPD, bronchitis, and asthma (I have had those pro lems for 50 years) X rays were read by 2 ppl. Now, to backtrack...I complained to my family doc about 6 mths ago that I was extremely fatigued...to the point of tears on a reg basis, chest discomfort, difficulty breathing. Ran blood tests - all fine. Sent to cardiologist. They said don't worry, no testing because I had just passed everything 6 mths prior (about 1 yr ago). I felt ignored, but let it go and tried, not very well, to suffer in silence. My question is, if you were able to follow all that...can copd just show up that soon after all the negative tests? I know something is wrong, but I have a difficult time trusting what anyone says. Has anyone had something similar to this situation, what was the outcome, and do I need to search for a 3rd pulmonogist or just forget it and live life the best I can on my own? One last thing, wearing socks have become very uncomfortable due to swelling. Hubby's stretched out socks work best. Dang it, I keep thinking of more...no idea if it matters, but I get rate health problems: teratoma removed from heart at 18, arachnoid cyst removed from inside and around L4, 5, and top potion of sacral bone. All bone removed at 40. Also a dbl copy C667t MTHFR mutation dx at 51. Born with shunt I can't remember which direction, but the one that makes it so lungs do not get proper amount of oxygen rich blood. Am now 59 and dreading my unhealthy 65.
