Hi all,
Hoping Dave might have a scan over these, troubled by constant inability to get a deep breath, throat clearing with a slight morning cough. Tolerance for excercise is good but tidal breathing is constantly off with a sense of breathlessness at rest that's mostly always there.
I had Asthma as a child, bronchiolitis as an infant and 6 pack year history confined to weekends for 17 years.
Gave up smoking at 34, 52 now have lived a healthy enough life since. Have a small hiatal hernia.
I don't have a diagnosis of Asthma today (didn't drop enough on methacoline) never mind Chronic Bronchitis (I suspect this) or COPD. Recent HRCT with dye totally clear. I've not been prescribed any meds (Pulmo told me to stop) but feel pretty awful most of the time with burning sensation / heaviness in chest.
I think there's been a significant but small decline over normal as with the cohort the COPD Gene study refers to where patients complain of symptoms but present with normal spirometry (My situation in '04) on follow up decades later this group progresses to abnormal spirometry.
Two sets of results attached below '04 and this month. Personally I believe its indicative of a decline and an underlying process which has caused this decline as indicated by reduced ratio and worse small airway defect.
Thoughts? My questions are do you think there's something at play here and would you prescribe meds?
Thanks.....
