I had a PFT done yesterday, last one was in June of 2020 which was perfect as the doc said. This one showed my FEV1 drop slightly from 105% to 96% which brought my FEV1/FVC to 71% down from 81%. Still above the threshold for a COPD diagnosis. I feel foolish posting these numbers as most of you would do anything for those stats. For that I apologize. I also met with a new pulmonologist and it was the most in depth doctor visit I have ever been to. He is very young, but very intelligent and personable. He took down detailed notes, had all of my medical history, and seemed actually interested in my case. He explained to me the results of my Alpha-1 test and that those results could be some of the explanation of my symptoms. He said that my PFT looked good and that he suspects “simple chronic bronchitis” along with my sinusitis and Gerd as the root of my problems. He prescribed an inhaler Advair as well. While I am happy with the new doctor and grateful that I seem to be maintaining my lung function to some degree, I am still dealing with these symptoms that seem to never let up. My wife, who was present at the appointment, still berated me afterward that all of my problems are from anxiety. We did have a good talk afterward though. I do wish I didn’t feel like this or could find some relief. I’ll keep trudging along though and do the best I can. Have a good weekend all
