Hi all, my mum got diagnosed with COPD in February and is last week was diagnosed with double pneumonia that left her in intensive care. Her symptoms have improved hugely in the last week and she was let home yesterday by the hospital.
Despite this her oxegen levels were in the low 80s in the morning throughout her stay in hospital. The COPD nurse has been round this morning and once again her levels are in the low 80s. It looks like she will be admitted to hospital again but everything they have tried is simply not raising her morning levels. In the afternoon/evening her levels are around 94 which is obviously decent for someone suffering from pneumonia who is no longer using any sort of additional Oxegen.
I was just wondering if anyone has experience with morning low levels because the nurses seem stumped! She is likely to have a CT scan soon (I'm petrified they'll find cancer but that's another story) but it alarms me that everything has been tried to raise her morning levels and nobody can seem to get to the bottom of it.
Thanks for reading, the entire family are complete novices with COPD and are finding things out all the time. Obviously this is a very concerning time for us so I would appreciate any information given.
