Four months ago, I was diagnosed with moderate COPD. I cant even describe how big of a shock that was. I found out while at work and just went to the bathroom to cry from being so angry about it. I was fully expecting the PFT results to come back normal and my Dr to tell me I'm crazy and my symptoms should resolve over time. I had covid in Oct 2020 and it absolutely destroyed my body. I was a perfectly healthy 36 yr old and never imagined I'd be affected so badly (even though I knew it was still possible). So, among many issues from having long covid, I also developed moderate COPD from covid.
I am very symptomatic with my copd, but symbicort has made a huge difference for me. Im still really short of breath all the time, but now the other symptoms feel more mild. My o2 is always 94-100, so no issues on that front. I hope to start pulmonary rehab soon. Geez is it pricey!
One thing that is driving me crazy the most is my throat irritation! I constantly feel the need to clear my throat. And not just a small "ahem" type of clearing. Im more like "oh, let me hack out this giant hairball from the back of my throat". I do not feel it lower in my lungs at all, luckily. Is this just something that can come along with COPD? I could understand if I was coughing up mucus....well, heck! If i was legitimately coughing at all, but I'm not. Man is it annoying!
