Bare with me, I'm 37 and was diagnosed 6 weeks ago with COPD. Chest x-rays were apparently fine and oxygen test thing was good. Not sure what the fev was as to be fair I don't think I took the info in properly. I have the respitory clinic mid August to go through a bunch of tests and just getting the hang of trying to take inhalers, green one for morning and a reliever.
Silly question coming, how do I know when I should take the reliever? I am a careworker so on the go constantly, I take it when short of breath but I was wondering if there are other signs I need it. I often get chest tightness, a cough with no breathlessness , is this a sign?
Also, often when laying down or if I need to clear mucus from my nose I feel like my throat closes over for a few seconds and I can't breath, is this normal?
I've been reading everything I can about COPD, my dad had it before he passed away and my mom has copd with emphesyma late stage. I'm in process of giving up smoking , I'm a big girl so desperate to try and lose weight, I also have thyroid issues and sciatica.
I'm sorry if this post is all over the place, I'm nervous about asking advice and help I'm the type of woman who never sees doctors or asks help I just get on with it, but need to take this COPD seriously for sale of my kids , any help is appreciated
