Hi, I was recently diagnosed with COPD at the age of 48. I don't have any particular symptoms apart from coughing. My FEV1 is around 74%. Bronchodilator increases this value only marginally.

My worry is that in a spirometry test 5 years ago I had FEV1 of 82%. This means that I have lost 500ml lung capacity in just 5 years (from 3.1 FEV1 to 2.6).

I am enormously worried that I am on track for quick deterioration of my condition. Everyone writes that COPD is progressing slowly but I dont see this in my case.

I am living a healthy lifestyle (incl. healthy food and exercise) , but that doesnt seem to help.

I feel totally doomed that smoking has causes this, and 7 years of abstinence havent' helped at all.
