my first spirometry resulted in a moderate COPD diagnosis. I’m 46 and a long term smoker (albeit light/social for the last 10 years) so I guess I shouldn’t be very surprised.
The thing is that the only symptom I have is shortness of breath when I walk fast or go up and down stairs. I can catch my breath within 1 minute usually. I almost never cough and have wheezed a little here and there while at rest. I am sedentary and obese so I always thought maybe my shortness of breath was due to that and smoking.
For those curious my FEV1 is pretty bad at 1.65 pre BD then only 1.97 post BD
FEV1/FVC 69 pre BD/ 78 post
RV/TLC is 45 🥺
I have a large lung module that they scanned 3 times and it’s stable. No CT scan or MRI said anything about emphysema or scarring
So yea I am feeling grim. People say it isn’t a death sentence but with stage 2 it does feel like it a bit.
I have to mention I haven’t yet had the follow up with my doc yet to discuss results, but the writing is on the wall.
Do I have 2 weeks to be in a panic till my follow up appointment.
