My oxygen hose has been rubbing my ears and my chin raw. My wife and I put our heads together and came up with an easy DIY solution that is inexpensive, requires only minor sewing skills and works great! Here is what we came up with:
First buy an inexpensive head band from Amazon that covers the ears. The one I found was about $9 for 2. (KOMAKE Ear Warmers Headband, 2 Pack Earmuff Headband Fleece Earmuffs Sport Headband Winter Ear Covers) .
Secondly either from Amazon or a fabric store pick up some sewable snaps and a small piece of fabric.
From the fabric make three 1.5” by .5” straps (loops).
Sew one strap vertically on each side of the earpieces illustrated in white on the picture sewing only on one end closest to the ear. On the other end of the strap sew in a male snap so it spans in the top of the loop (black dot on picture). Where the strap meets the head band sew in the female snap and make sure both snaps secure when snapped. This makes a loop that you can place the oxygen hose through and lock it in place. On the back of the headband sew a horizontal strap and place the snaps just like you did on the sides.
First place the oxygen hose in the side loops then place both small hoses through the back loop and allow the hose to run down your back and slide the little clamp up against the bottom of the back loop. If you prefer to have the hose running under your chin, just use the side loops and not the back one.
To remove simply pull the headband off and the hose stays in place
I find that running it down my back makes it far more comfortable at night and it does not touch my chin or my ears
