My grandpa is in late endstage copd. He rarely goes day without getting out of breath now. He spends 75+% of his day on his bipap machine in bed. Yesterday the doctor decided to try Morphine twice a day. His home health nurse says it will help with his breathing. How does morphine help with breathing? I have always known it to be used for pain.
Also, how will I know when the very end is coming? At this point he has CHF as well and the doctor told him he will probably go to sleep and not wake up. But I don't know what to expect at the end? I don't know if I should say everything I have to say now because I may never get to see him again or if he has time left.
I'm devastated obviously, as he was a much better dad to me than my father has ever been. Also I have young children to consider as they love their Pappaw very much.
