Hello
I had been given a CT scan last month as I have been having a tight chest and pain at top right back for a few months - I was due to go into get the results at a Respiratory consult next month.
However I ended up in a&e for an unrelated issue and the a&e doctor mentioned "oh you have COPD" ....which was startling...and he would not discuss further as I had gone in for another problem
As I haven't had any guidance so far, I am reading a lot of different information online and am looking for the facts. It seems even the medical teams seem to class Emphasema as something that comes under the umbrella term of COPD.
However reading on here, I am reading info that makes it appear that emphysema can lead to COPD in the way HIV can lead to AIDS for example
It's all very confusing
I don't smoke anymore
What does this even mean
What's the prognosis like?
Ps I haven't had a lung function test for two years but it was normal when I did
