I had a severe exacerbation aka Flare Up four weeks ago that first put
me in the ER. I was told then it could take up to a month to recover
fully from it. It was brought on by an upper lung infection I have been trying to rid myself of for three or four months now. I have been through all kinds of antibiotics and none seem to knock it out. The prednisone is miserable and sleeping is out of the question on it as well. I have had so many interaction nightmares switching meds around that I am pretty much on basic Albuterol Nebulizer and Singular with a couple shots of Stilito a day. It doesn't help that these Pulmonary Docs are difficult to see and are never around over a weekend. Even during the week they never actually take more than 15 minutes to even discuss anything with you. A product of the Herd em In and Herd em Out medical system we have these days.
Needless to say my only choice has been the ER for getting any urgent care over a weekend. And they do a great job but it is just arresting the Flare Up from going full speed ahead. I have been in the ER every weekend for two weeks and expect I will be there again this weekend. I am degrading quickly and am considering finding a new Doc just to get another set of eyes on the subject. That is tough too as these Pulmonary Docs are few between and you can never get into them.
It has gotten so bad that I fear going to sleep laying down. I will wake up drowning essentially every time. That and I hurt everywhere from coughing all the time. I am sure sleeping when I can upright in a chair doesn't help either.
Well I don't mean to unload on everyone like I did but this is really got me discouraged.
Has anyone been given an antibiotic that seems to hit these infections hard and reliably?
