My father is in his late 70’s and has severe/late stage COPD. At his last doctor appointment, palliative care was mentioned and will be a topic of conversation at his next appointment on August 23. I need to learn more about palliative care but from what I’ve read, I don’t feel he is at that point. In fact the doctor has told him there is nothing else he can do. I feel like the doctor is giving up on him which in turn makes my dad feel hopeless. Through this thread, I am hoping to gain ideas/suggestions/questions to take to his appointment on the 23rd.Here are his current meds which dad feel none of it seems to help.
4L continuous oxygen,Trelegy Ellipta 100-62.5-25 AE, Theophylline 400mg, Azithromycin 250 mg, Prednisone 8mg (higher doses during flareups worked for a while but now it doesn’t seem to help. Do to the shakiness, we switched his nebulizer (albuterol) to levalbuterol1..25/2ml. He is still struggling with the shakiness so he doesn’t use it much. He has a rescue inhaler as well. I would love to be prepared when I see his pulmonologist. Thank you
