Hello!
I know I shouldn't be looking for medical answers in a forum, but I believe your experience will help me undestand and relax a bit.
I am 42, and I was a severe smoker (60 cigarettes/day) for the last 28 years. I stopped smoking last week.
Τhe symptoms that lead me to the pneumonologist were sleep apnea and the feeling of having a balloon on my chest, my dry cough and panting.
Yesterday I took the results of the CT scan I had done at the end of June:
"Pericardial or pleural effusion is not found. Few mediastinal lymph nodes with a diameter of 12 mm and axillary countries less than or equal to one centimeter.
Severe emphysematous lesions in the upper pulmonary fields and interstitial tension in the middle and lower pulmonary fields.
Mild bronchiectasis occurs for the right lobe. "
I went to a pulmonogist today but he said he can't tell me anything until I get a spirometry test. The problem is that my appointment for this test will be on 10th of September.. Which causes me lots of stress to have to wait more than a month to get a diagnosis.
To my understanding it's COPD (or Asthma). Do you think I am right?
Is it ok to wait until the 10th of September for the spirometry test or should I try to find an earlier appointment no matter what?
Thank you in advance!
