I met the radiation Dr. this morning.
It's a day of good news/bad news.
I do have "small cell lung cancer" - just discovered this year.
Very slow growth.
Treatment plan - SBRT {stereotacbiu body radiation therpy} or very focused radiation on the "tumor."
Success stats = 90%
Both him and my pulmo said I'm not a candidate for surgical removal of a lobe of the lung.
The issue was clarified today - while I probably could survive the surgery,
it would severely impair my breathing ability - not what I thought, that the surgery itself was the issue!
I'm even more impressed with my medical team now, not to mention the sophistication of treatment options available today.
As usual, I'm taking this in stride, the prognosis looks excellent.
keep smiling and have a super day.
