I've been reading up, including here. This link seems a good summary for chronic bronchitis and there is also a quiz true-false on COPD that helps bring some focus I think.

I'm zeroing in on thinking my key problem is asthma. My oxygen is great at 98, and history of CO2 in my blood is also well in range. My x-ray had no issues and had one indication that I read rules out emphysema. That leaves chronic bronchitis and asthma.
I think it is asthma, given my symptoms are caused by triggers like perfume. And because chronic bronchitis has more infections (I have not had a cold for several years, my only case of bronchitis was 5 years ago). And it is worse in winter with cold dry air, where for me it is hot humid air being a problem. And I think a component is size of lung structures, as a child I could not run bases in softball as I got winded, or as a young adult I can't play tennis more than 10 minutes as I get winded.
I'll see what the pulmo doctor thinks at my next visit in a few weeks.
