IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR COPD360 SOCIAL MEMBERS
Re: Growing Pains
We now live in a digital world. While that world offers us an amazing ability to speak and interact with others all over the world, it also offers some challenges. When we introduced COPD360Social, our goal was to allow COPD patients, caregivers and professionals to experience being able to form a community for the purpose of support, interaction and finding answers that would improve their quality of life. In a very large measure, this is succeeding far beyond our expectations. We have become a community, and members are reaching out to others offering support and friendship. Lives are being changed every day as fellow members offer solutions that have worked in their COPD management. The site has offered the ability for others to meet, discuss and learn of the challenges others face not only in our country, but increasingly around the world. Most of all, COPD360Social allows those who feel isolated the ability to once again be a part of a community who understands the challenges they face.
We have received reports of people getting email notifications from our site from a member they do not know personally asking them to contact them. In a couple cases the members were under the impression that the site or email had been compromised. This was not the case.
When you register for the site, one of the questions we ask is your email address. No one outside the management of the foundation is allowed access to your email address. The COPD360Social message system is much like the feature used in other online communities. The message is sent through the site to your email notifying you that you have a message from another member. That member is contacting you in this way because they DO NOT have your email address
If it is a message from COPD360social it will say NOTIFICATIONS or MESSAGES and will come from the COPD Foundation. DO NOT respond to any request for your personal email address and manage all your communications through 360Social unless you personally know the person.
The COPD Foundation makes every effort to ensure your safety, privacy and confidentiality.
If you do not wish to receive any notifications the process is simple:
- 1.After you sign in to the site you will see your name at the top of the page. Click on your name, and a box will appear. Click EDIT ACCOUNT
- 2.Click on the tab that says communications. At the bottom of the page you will see Email Delivery Schedule. Click on Email Delivery schedule. Here you can select how often you receive messages from the site. You have several options. If you select NEVER, you will no longer get emails from the site.
If you get an unsolicited message, please forward the notification or notification by email to: 360communitymanager@copdffoundation.org
Be sure to include the persons user name and your user name!
