Hi, I'm 39, 5"7 and about 15 stones (98kg ish, not been weighed for a while), I've smoked since I was 13, I recently got pneumonia and was given co-amoxiclav and prednisolone, i notmally get a chest infection once evry year and get Amoxicillin and it clears up in a coupke of days and i continue with life, this time ive been given these tablets and its not clearing, I got insomnia from the steroids so after 3 days stopped them, i went back to my doctor who told me to take them or go to the hospital by the end of the week, so i took the insomnia route, it hasn't helped. I'm now on my second load of antibiotics and steriods, I'm so tired, breathless and mentally exhausted. I received a call from my doctor on Wednesday to say they suspected i had COPD after blood tests but they needed to do the spit test and have a chest xray, i had the chest xray today. I have looked online and seen the symptoms and i am unfit, i still smoke (for now, i did stop with a hypnotist a while back after trying other ways but started again, i shall book again shortly though) and just think I'll be dead in 10 years if that. How long once diagnosed is the life you have really? Going by the diagnosis I'm around 2/3 ish i think in myself, I'm just wondering how long i may have, its awful to think about even though I've not even been given the proper diagnosis yet but just in case.
Thank you x
