I take Combivent for COPD which is an inhaler containing both Albuterol and Ipatropium Bromide. About 2 years back they changed it from aerosol to a non aerosol type inhaler. Now you must insert the cartridge yourself, turn the canister to reset each dose, and the doses are measured in nimber on the side. This was a stupid choice on the part of the Govt. aerosols work better for inhalers regardless of any tiny environmental issue. Ever since the change my inhaler starts to malfunction when around 1/3 full. Beforehand its fine, the dose can clearly be seen releasing a LOT of med into the air even when you first prime the inhaler. After 1/3 full, as I am using the final week of medication, the amt coming out has lessened considerably! It has less theraputic effect and I even end up with a week of less medication every single month. I cleaned the inhaler, checked for blockages, and it is not that. I contacted the manufacturer Boehringer Ingelheim, to let them know! I contacted the FDA also, and my pharmacy. So far nothing has been improved. Has anyone else experienced their Combivent releaseing less medication after the inhaler reads under half full to 1/3 full? Myinsurer refuses early refill and I get stuck taking a not- complete dosage for days. This is not right! I sprayed it into the air when full, and when 1/3 full to check, and the difference is so significant its visibly obvious. I even had to remove and reset the canister once,( which it says to never do), because it completel y failed on me once! Does anyonehave any help, advice, has anyone else had this issue and let them know? Thank
