I am 50 yrs old with no symptoms other than slight shortness of breath after some heavier exertion like moving wheel barrels full of stuff on a humid day. I can walk briskly for multiple miles no problem. I have given up smoking about 3 weeks ago now after cutting back drastically over the summer. Has anyone ever heard of this reversing itself? Or spirometry readings getting better? How fast will this disease progress? I really don't know what to expect. All the doctors told me was I had to quit smoking or end up on O2 within 10 yrs. I had to research everything myself & of course that gave me some info. to worry about. They didn't even explain the disease and that's 2 different doctors. Thanks to any info. or advice anyone can provide. Hope you all are feeling well! (Oh, and after reading about the statistics with smoking & COPD, for the life of me I can't figure out how in the world our government lets cigarettes be legal ! Yes I know should've never started but if it were illegal, I might not have ever started). Peace all.
