Hello. My mom has end stage COPD and has for some time. In the last three weeks she’s declined rapidly; severe coughing, wheezing, inability to get out of bed. Even going from her bad to the bathroom is too much for her. She’s on oxygen 24/7 at 9-10 liters and 50 mg of Prednisone. She was put on palliative care a month ago but since then it’s clear she’s at an all time low. My question is: does anyone know what the final days/weeks truly look like for an end stage COPD patient?
She constantly gets worse and I’m surprised by how low her lows have gotten. I’m hoping to wrap my mind around what to truly expect when it really is the end. I really do appreciate any insight this community has.
