I am sure there are numerous similar questions on this forum but I thought it would be better to provide my own.
My Dad is currently living with End of Stage COPD. At this stage he is receiving Palliative care and is on oxygen 24/7. I do not know is FEV1 but I would imagine it is quite low. He got a bad bout of Pneumonia last year and he never recovered. This resulted in him being unable to get out of bed and requiring assistance with everything.
It has been an emotional roller coaster for my Dad and my whole family as we all try to come to grips with it all. Apologies for the long background story but my real question(s) are:
What can we expect for the final days of COPD? I know this question is ambiguous as there are a number of reasons someone can die from COPD but any input would be appreciated.
He is currently on Morphine and a number of other medications to help ease his symptoms.
Thank you,
Andrew
