Before I call Lincare, I would like to be prepared with information.
A recent storm left us without power for 3 days. Was supposed to be longer, but thankfully, it was not.
I use my compressor plugged into the wall, and i have a POC. I have about half a dozen tanks in my closet left over from when I used them
The place that delivers the 02 was also without power, and the only way to get more tanks was to drive 2 hours in the rain. Couldnt manage the tanks even if I got there. (in a tornado)
So, I packed up and went to a friends house - traveling with my meds, 2 tanks, a POC and assorted other things. I was not traveling light. I did not have enough tanks to wait out 3 days without power. I didn't call the firestation which might have 02, or other places, but getting the tanks home, carrying them, is not something I can do.
Question: It's known that Medicare will cover a POC or tanks, but not both. I want to get about 10 tanks to cover these kinds of emergencies. Will Lincare say no? Or do I have to buy them?
I did charge the POC in the car, but that's not an ongoing solution for no power for days.
Any ideas of what I should have done instead?
thanks
