I just got the information from my local hospital on pulmonary rehab and it looks like I can't do it with them. It will cost me over $2800 out-of-pocket for only 18 sessions and the hospital's "financial assistance" consists of working out a budget plan for me to cover that entire amount spread out over time. My doctor has recomended that I walk, but given that I live on the side of a mountain where NOTHING is less than a 20 degree incline/decline for miles around, that seems impractical as well. I can purchase an elliptical machine or treadmill for less than the cost of 4 rehab sessions, but I need advice on how to set up a plan of action. Can anyone recommend online resources laying out an appropriate exercise regimen for someone with stage 4 emphysema? TIA.
