Hello, glad I found this forum and community. 28 yo male here with racing thoughts. Recently a friend of mine who's 31 got diagnosed with copd. He has a history of about 11 years of smoking both cigarettes and marijuana. I on the other hand have a history of smoking only marijuana for 4 years. I've had persistent coughing with mucus(which increases whenever I smoke), fatigue, slight right rib pain and a stuffy chest for a couple of months now. That plus his diagnosis made me quit. Went to my Dr who didn't look sold on my seeing a pulmonologist but she ordered a blood test for me. My co2 is low, my hemoglobin is just slightly under the cutoff (don't know if it makes a difference), my rbc count is normal, platelet count is normal as well. I know most people who get tested for copd are usually 40+ yo but my friend's diagnosis plus my symptoms and my lab results are giving me sleepless nights. Haven't had an x-ray so don't know. Should I be worried? What are my chances of getting copd and emphysema now or in the future with my smoking history? Are my lungs forever damaged? Should I still insist on an x-ray or ct scan? Is it too early at my age to test for it? Really sorry if I come off as ignorant or overly anxious. I don't really know much about the condition.
