Hi All,
Had my annual Chest X-ray 3 weeks ago and it was clean after my primary listened to my lungs. He did say he heard a soft something at the base of my lungs.
BUT…..
Ok. So, about a week ago I had a severe runny nose last Thursday. Four days later on Monday I was coughing up thick yellow phelgm and my voice started to go hoarse. By Tuesday it hurt to talk and I was fatigued.
Went to the doctor during walk ins (different doctor than my primary)and he gave me a ZPack and antibiotic. He said my lung base had diminished breath sounds.
Was this my very first exacerbation? Or is this COPD- saying emphysema has starting to come to the party.
Is this the progression part of the onset of COPD? My lungs did not have diminished sounds when I quit smoking three years back.
What is really off the wall at my age of 45, my wife has not bought into any of this. I mean she doesn’t even believe me. She said everyone around is sick and it’s all viral. I was explaining to her that I get it worse than others because I’m fighting emphysema and she just wouldn’t buy in.
I’m wondering if I should just get the CT done so I can get the diagnosis of emphysema and get this over with. Just don’t know if I want the label.
Thanks again for the feedback.
