My dad is 59 years old, has been a smoker since he was 17 years old. He was diagnosed with COPD 3 years ago when he caught MRSA and staph infection. Almost coded, BP dropped very low in hospital, he was given vasopressors and put on bipap and taken to ICU. About 6 months later he got a lung infection and was admitted to the hospital and soon after intubated. He was intubated for 5 days and then extubated. Right now he has been in hospital for 10 days intubated. His o2 sat is 96%, PH is 7.39. He is on Zyvox and cefepime. He has been running a fever for 4-5 days. Did not have fever before entering hospital. Tonight they are trying a trying to see if he can breathe on his own. If so he will go on CPAP. How do you all think the out come looks so far.
