I’m 35 year old female. I don’t smoke I have had a persistent cough and breathlessness for 9 months. I had an X-ray that shows thickening of the bronchial walls and a ct scan that “suggests COPD”. I have used a peak flow that usually reads between 350-400.
That’s all I know so far. The GP couldn’t give me anymore information on the CT other than they can rule out most things and that whatever is shown “suggests COPD”.
I guess I’m wondering if it’s possible that imaging can be mistaken for COPD? Could it be something else? Or is a ct reliable?
I’m on a waiting list for further testing but no idea how long that will take.
With a diagnosis at 35 am I looking at a shorter life expectancy? I have read that the younger your are diagnosed the worse the outlook, is this correct?
Thank you for your time.
