I posted here about 5 months ago about hyperinflated lung from Chest X Rays. But based on at-home spirometry tests, we ruled out COPD. At that time my cough was almost was nonexistent.
I have had recurring "chronic" cough for probably 6 out of the last 20 years. My previous primary doctor thinks I have chronic cough due to postnasal drip because of my allergic rhinitis. Almost all of those cough episodes lasted under 4 weeks except in 2022 when I contracted Covid. That Covid cough lasted almost 3 months in 2022.
About 5 weeks ago I had sore throat and low fever, which only lasted a day. But my cough has lasted 5 weeks and there is no sign of relief in sight. 4 weeks ago, I had a Chest X Ray, which shows signs of pneumonia. A repeat Chest X Ray last week shows that my pneumonia is improving.
I am taking Flonase and Astepro for my allergic rhinitis and Mucinex DM and Tessalon Perles for my cough. But as soon as I reduced the dosage of Tessalon Perles, my cough worsened a lot.
20 years ago I went to a pulmonologist for cough. He ordered a pulmonary function test, which came back normal. But he diagnosed of latent TB. So last year I started Isoniazid to treat my latent TB for 8.5 months, because I started Humira for Crohn's which suppresses my immune system.
So what is the reason for my cough? Is there an end to this suffering? Thank you.
