Is it normal to have daily unrelenting congestion with emphysema? I use a saline nasal spray which clears it momentarily, but within a short period of time the nasal blockage is back. I use a nose cone at night because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to breathe while sleeping from all the mucus and congestion. It doesn’t appear to be allergy-related as allergy medicines of various types have had no effect. Recently I have been waking up with what feels like a lot of congestion in my lungs which also affects my voice (like I can’t seem to clear my voice at all. It clears up in about an hour or so. The congestion and constant nasal blockage from the congestion makes it harder to breathe. Is this part of emphysema or could it be something else? I have “minimal centrilobular emphysema.”
