I don’t know if this is denial, wishful thinking or logic but I went to the ER last month as I was spitting up blood, having trouble breathing, extremely tight chest, elevated heart rate and my whole lung felt it was numb or something.
Oxygen level was at 99, heart ended up being ok on their test but the CT came back w mild centrilobular emphysema and an enlarged spleen.
I smoked a pack a day for about 13 years along w daily marijuana consumption. I had quit smoking (started vaping) a year and a half ago and I went on a health kick. I was running half marathons almost everyday. I would be really out of breath but I chalked that up to lungs healing.
Outside of this one issue, I’ve felt pretty decent. Is there a chance that I was misdiagnosed CT scan?
I took a spirometry test and have normal/good results. No bronchodilator response.
most of my symptoms have subsided over this past month that I’ve been going through it but I’ll occasionally still feel like it’s somewhat hard to get air in my left lung. Not daily but every now and then. What else could this be aside from emphysema?
so sorry about the long text. I’m very shocked, I feel like my world is over and I don’t really have anyone who is knowledgeable to talk to. I’m waiting for another pulmonologist appointment but I feel like I’m deprioritized because of my spirometry results.
Thank you so much to anybody who talks with m
