We want to bring several research and survey opportunities to your attention.
For those not yet diagnosed: An
important study is under way to test if current and former smokers who have
symptoms of COPD, but do not have evidence of airflow obstruction on a
spirometry test, will still benefit from a long-acting bronchodilator. For
people with diagnosed COPD, long-acting bronchodilators are the first choice
for therapy, however, there isn't enough evidence to know if those individuals
with COPD symptoms who look normal otherwise could benefit as well. This study
is not for people who have already been diagnosed with COPD using a spirometry
test. If you think you may qualify, to find a study site near you or to speak
with a study representative about participating, click

For diagnosed patients with
COPD
: This study is for patients with COPD, age 40 or older, who
regularly experience symptoms of cough and mucous secretion and who may
experience COPD flare-ups causing you to either take additional medication for
your COPD (e.g., antibiotics/corticosteroids) or have to visit the hospital/ER.
If you fit in this category, you are invited to take part in an online
questionnaire. For your time, you will receive a $20 Amazon gift card if you
complete the full survey. The questionnaire will last approximately 30 minutes.
You can access it
HERE.
For family caregivers: Researchers at Johns Hopkins
University are conducting a study testing the ways doctors communicate with
family members of people with COPD. You can help with this study by completing
a survey that takes about 15 minutes. Please click
HERE to learn
more or participate.
