Hi again everyone!
I hope you are all doing well, staying safe and enjoying the outdoors as much as you can this summer!
My family and I recently moved to California temporarily to stay with family while we save up for a house. We figure it’s the only chance we have in this market and rent prices are about to push us out of our area. Fingers crossed we can save up and buy a home in a year or so! But wow, I’m not a fan of this heat!
Counting down the days until fall and winter, which should be lovely here.
Anyways, I recently got a reminder to schedule my next CT scan to check up on my Congenital Lobar Emphysema as well as the small nodule that was found on my scan almost a year ago.
I’ve yet to set up a doctor down here and everything but plan to do that in the next few weeks.
When I received the reminder I went into my patient notes and looked them over and something that the Pulmonologist noted caught my attention.
He said I had a “bronchiectatic” airway in the same lobe as my CLE, the right lower lobe. He described it as mucous debris and stated it was just one spot. I got curious and looked this up and immediately Bronchial Atresia came up and the CT scans of this condition looked identical to my scans.
I remember the doctor pointing out this mucous airway to me and it looked like a white smudge right in the middle of my lower right lobe, surrounded by the Lobar emphysema.
Could it be that Bronchial Atresia is what I have? Or would my Pulmo have known that?
I’m just curious if I should have this looked into? It seems like a super benign condition, but it would offer an explanation.
If it’s not bronchial atresia, what would cause an airway to become blocked with mucous? Does this mean I have bronchiectasis?
Anyways, just a few questions I was hoping to get some help with while I wait to find a new doctor. Doctor Dave I really appreciate your time and advice if you see this!
I hope you all have an awesome day and week!
