Dear all,
My dad has high CO2 and had recently been hospitalised in the ICU for exacerbation. He was diagnosed with COPD and this is his second time in the hospital this year for breathing difficulties.
I have asked the doctor several times, but she has told me that for the moment, there is no need for oxygen therapy nor bipap for my dad, although he has had a lot of ABGs done and it all shows that his CO2 is high. He is constantly tired, has muscle twitches and has unexplained exhaustion even while he is resting.
I was informed that BIPAP helps wash out CO2 and many with COPD can benefit from using BIPAP at home during sleep or naptimes. At this point, I’m willing to try anything because all I want is for my dad to live as near to a normal life as possible. We are extremely close and I have been terrified for the past one month during his hospital stay.
I would appreciate it if I get some recommendations from other members here that have the same problem and have benefited from using bipap at home. Which brands and specs should I be looking at? Is the Philips Respironics A30 a good one to use?
