Hi everyone! This is my first time posting out here. I have severe emphysema according to a CT scan done this past March. I went on a business trip in April this year and believe I was exposed to mold for two nights in a basement room. I Imagine that dust and smoke also irritated me. I moved to another hotel to attend daily meetings with my team. I would spend the day in meetings and then when I got up to leave, I would walk 20 feet or so and my O2 level would drop, and I could not breathe. I had to sit down and take deep breathes until I could catch my breathe. This had never happened to me before that trip. In fact, I went on a trip in March and felt great. The only difference to me is the possible exposure to mold and other things. This happened each day and, on the flight back. I should have gone to the hospital. When I returned home I had my pulmo call in prednisone and antibiotic. I felt better while on the medicine, then a week or so later I went in and saw my primary who put me on a different antibiotic and tapered prednisone. Again, i felt so much better, however 2 weeks later I had my appointment with my Pulmo that I had waited 3 months for. She didn't seem to care about the mold exposure or even listen to me. She had the nurse do a 6 min. walk test which of course I failed because those out of the blue breathlessness had returned. Well of course she now wants me on O2 while walking. I'm already on 2L when sleeping. I don't agree with her diagnosis and have since learned about Pneumonitis, which is a sensitivity to Mold and other allergens. I contacted my primary and asked her to put me on prednisone again and antibiotic. Today is day two on medication and I did a 6 min walk test and never went below 92. I feel so much better. I don't believe that Pneumonitis is treated with antibiotic and prednisone. I think it's just treated with a regimen of prednisone. Has anyone else experienced this before?
