Desquamative interstitial pneumonia (DIP)
is almost exclusively seen in smokers or ex smokers. If stop smoking, prognosis is good.
Hi everyone, I had a PFT on 9/10. The FEV1 was 70%. I don't use oxygen or inhalers, not short of breath + O2 sats 95-98. Had what I thought
was a chest CT, but it turned out to be a spine CT (follow up for fx T12
after a fall). Anyway, I saw a pulmonologist afterwards. She said she could see about half the lungs and that I have moderate COPD with mild emphysema. Lines in the right lung might represent DIP and ordered another PFT + chest CT to be done 3 months out from my quit smoking date which means I will be getting the tests in December. Then follow up with the pulmonologist again. Really scary stuff! Anyone have or know someone with DIP?
