My mother is 76yrs old an has stage 4 Copd. She also has diabetes an rheumatoid arthritis. Her weight has dropped down to 95lbs. Drs just told us xray showed she has pnumenia now. My question is she keeps getting shortness of breath every hour just sitting in chair.she wants a fan on her open the door cut on a.c. unit. Her oxygen level will drop to 85 but then it will come back up to around 95. My sister an I are wanting hospice to start coming to house. Mom lives with our oldest sister. She isn't wanting it. My mom is hurting all the time an says she can't breath every hour almost. It's worse at night. She is having anxiety really bad because she short of breath. She is taking small amount of morphine pill 3 times a day an 1/2 of ativan. This is not helping her any. How long can she keep getting shortness of breathe like this? My nerves is shot watching her say she can't breathe. My oldest sister said if hospice comes in they will give her liquid morphine an it's going to take her on out. Please give me advice on what y'all think my sister an I should do. She is suffering so much every day. Thanks
