Recently I applied to be a diver within my line of work. Upon the first stage medical it came up on my file that I am a mild asthmatic (which I am and have been most of my life) so I was sent for a PFT. I got the results back a couple weeks later and I found out I have a post-BD fev1/fvc ratio of 65%. The report said my PFT was consistent with asthma with good control but the "persistent mild airflow obstruction is consistent with mild copd"
Fev1 was 4.45L (97%) and FVC 116 ish% (value in L was not on report)
I was then sent for a chest x-ray and I got a call back form the doc saying I have some lung scarring and granulomas and that I am "borderline" on hyperinflation. They then sent me for TB testing so they could rule it out which came back negative.
I smoked approx half pack a day for 12 years but I quit in early 2011.
That was about a month ago and I have been miserable ever since. I have been so stressed out that people I work with have commented that something is wrong. I am still waiting for my pulmo referral.
How's everyone else doing today?
